To my new neighbors the bees

May day morning in my new back yard,

warm with joy at having rescued myself,

I watched you buzzing busily along the wall

Choosing your new homes carefully,

checking every crevice, measuring eac

for its suitability as a good-enough sanctuary.

I hope you found the one you need for now,

as I did,  the welcome home hole-in-the-wall

you can rest in, cosy and alone.

Over the summer we will share this suntrap;

we will sing together, tending these herbs

and their fragrant flowers:

Lavender and valerian, marigolds and feverfew;

my medicine garden will sustain you

as it helps me heal.
