Our Mission:
NOTHING CONFINES YOUR MIND.
The difficulties of withstanding a chronic condition are not easy to understand by many. Many times, the stigmatization of some of these conditions is what hurts just as much as the situation itself. The ability to express one's emotions through poetry and prose is an invaluable experience— and that’s what Réapparition is here for.
Chronic illness doesn’t define any human being. Whether you’ve experienced it yourself, or you’ve seen a loved one or just anyone experience setbacks, just know that the mind is stronger than anything thrown at it.
We only accept content with positive messages. The re-emergence of your purposeful self comes from positivity— hence the name réapparition (re-emergence or reappearance in french).
We are open to publishing varied opinions on subjects as long as they are conducive to the free expression of ideas, but the journal itself does not endorse or espouse any political or religious views.
Our Story:
So many people that we meet in our day-to-day interactions have experienced or are currently experiencing the drawbacks of having a chronic medical condition.
Our founder, Taruni Tangirala, was inspired to start Réapparition Journal, an outlet for anyone empathetic to the causes that hinder those with chronic medical conditions. Her vision is for the narrativization of significant health-related experiences to be given greater credence as both a tool for therapy on the writer’s end but also as an informative source for the broader public, healthcare workers, and other patients. Furthermore, the narrativization of patient experiences has untapped potential in empirical clinical research– Réapparition is looking towards a future in which patient narratives can prove just as valuable as biometrics in effective clinical care.
