We’re looking for passionate and dedicated individuals.
All positions are voluntary.
We provide a completely remote working atmosphere that places a high priority on the mental health of editorial staff. Our deadlines are highly flexible, and we always strive to take the schedules of our editorial board members into account (no matter how busy with other commitments). Due to the remote nature of the work and the varied time zones of the editorial staff, there are no frequent meetings.
However, this by no means makes the work we do at RJ any less impactful, fulfilling, or intellectually stimulating. Editorial staff members who worked with us as high schoolers have gone on to institutions including Cornell, Harvard, MIT, UofV, and UT. Several of our editorial staff members have attended demanding graduate programs in writing, and all editorial staff, past and present, have shown a deep commitment to our mission and an interest in some or all of the following: writing, healthcare, problem-solving, the arts, and advocacy.
Opportunities provided for editorial staff:
⁃ Ability to publish any blog post ideas you have on an expedited timeline compared to regular submissions
⁃ High involvement in the selection of pieces and creation of the Editor’s Note in each issue
⁃ Encouraged to pitch novel ideas to the journal that reasonably fit our mission
⁃ Freedom to hold events of relevance to our journal, whether it be virtual or in-person in your hometown
