Plea

The last thing I want to hear when I am drowning in my own fears

is that God loves me

because, in this state of hopelessness, I cannot hear anything but my own tattered breath.

Instead, show me that YOU love me, despite all my struggles and challenges.

Hold me closely in the embrace of your acceptance.

Lend me your strength.

Share your hope.

And as our heartbeats synchronize as one

perhaps then I can open to God’s presence.
