My Rules, My Choice

The great Dermot Kennedy once said “I’ve learned in love and death, we don’t decide.”

As is true for living in this body who is constantly attacking me from the inside.

I didn’t choose the pressure and fluid in my brain to go on a deep sea diving expedition.

I didn’t choose for my thyroid to break it’s little butterfly wings and send havoc running throughout my body.

I didn’t choose for the fatigue to drag me through quicksand, while carrying a 100LBS of bricks on my back.

I won’t choose death.

I won’t lay down, I won’t surrender.

I will not give up or give in.

I will choose to fight.

I will choose to love.

I will choose to live.
