Post-Pandemic Reflections
By Lakshmi Tangirala
It’s been five years since 2020. Here, the author briefly reflects on how 2020 tested humanity with the pandemic, vaccine debates, and political challenges, but resilience prevailed. People united, adapted, and supported one another, with frontline workers selflessly leading the fight. This generation demonstrated unmatched courage and left a legacy of strength for the future.
Finally 2020 has come to an end with multitude of staggering challenges that each and every citizen on the globe was forced to confront with. The ravage of pandemic coupled with ambiguous opinions on vaccination on one side and enthusiasm to select the most deserving leader to run the country out of amor patriae on the other took the toll on an average American mentally, physically and emotionally.
But the silver lining of the entire conundrum of pandemic was the resilience shown by young and adults in adapting to the devastating effects of pandemic. In no uncertain terms can the power of our collective determination to face the wrath of the pandemic be explained.
I am extremely proud to be part of a generation which showed such an immense courage in an unparalleled disastrous situation where every breath, every hand shake every step out of the door posed an immense threat and a life and death situation. But we did not deter. We fought unitedly; we took all the precautions to minimize the risks to ourselves and others. Medical personnel and front line workers have put others lives before theirs. We are forever indebted to them. We proved for generations to come that no pandemic can break our resilience and no conspirators can.
